Sequoia National Park (California)

This park is run jointly by the National Park Service
with Kings Canyon National Park.  They preserve
land in the high Sierra Nevada mountains of
California.  The elevation in Sequoia National Park
runs from 1,300 to 14,494 feet.  At the 14,494-foot
range is Mount Whitney, the highest mountain in the
United States outside Alaska.  At 12,802 feet,
Tulainyo Lake is the highest lake in the United
States.  Sequoia National Park features groves of
sequoia trees, the world's largest living things.
General Sherman is the world's largest living tree.  It
is 275 feet tall and its circumferance at the ground is
103 feet.  It is about 2,200 years old.  There is one
Junior Ranger program for both parks.
