Roger Williams National Memorial (Rhode Island)
This park site remembers Roger Williams, who
founded the colony of Rhode Island. It enabled
people to practice religion freely. He founded the
colony in 1636 when his religious beliefs forced him
to leave the colony of Massachusetts. The site is on
part of the original settlement of Providence.
