Richmond National Battlefield Park (Virginia)

There are 10 sub-units of this park site, which
focuses on Civil War battles in and around
Richmond, Virginia, capital of the Confederate
States.  The story told at this park site focuses on
two time periods:  the 1862 Seven Days campaign
and Gen. Grant's Overland Campaign of 1864-1865
which ultimately brought the Confederacy down.  The
main visitor center is located where the Tredegar
Iron Works produced half the cannons used by the
Confederacy.  There are also visitor centers at the
Chimborazo Medical Museum, Cold Harbor
Battlefield, Fort Harrison, and Glendale/Malvern Hill
Battlefields.  I personally found most interesting two
things:  a demonstration of how a cannon was
loaded and the different types of shot that went into
it, at the Tredegar Iron Works, and the medical
museum where they describe in detail how soldiers
were operated on.

The Tredegar Iron
Works sub-unit of this
park site has a Junior
Ranger program which
differs from the one at
the other sub-units.  At
any of the sub-units,
instead of the
respective patch you
can ask for a badge.
Richmond National Battlefield Park has a nice poster near the main visitor center entrance informing parents and kids about the Junior Ranger program.
