Pipe Spring National Monument (Arizona)

This park site commemorates a site where springs
provided water for hundreds of years to ancestral
puebloans, Kaibab Paiute Indians, and Mormon
pioneers.  In 1872, a fort (Windsor Castle) was built
over the main spring and a large cattle ranching
operation was established.  This isolated outpost
served as a way station for people traveling across
northern Arizona.
