Minute Man National Historical Park
(Massachusetts)
This park site contains several parts but the most
important one is the location of the North Bridge
where colonists in Concord, Massachusetts, fired
upon British soldiers sent to inspect their homes for
armaments. It occurred on Apr. 19, 1775, and is
known as the "shot heard round the world." This
was the beginning of the Revolutionary War. The
present bridge is a replica of the one from back then
but it is dramatic to view it. The park also includes
the Battle Road, which is between Concord and
Lexington. On this road, colonists continued to fire
on British soldiers as they made their way back to
Boston. Also, the park includes monuments and the
grave where a few British soldiers are buried.
