Mary McLeod Bethune Council House National
Historic Site (District of Columbia)

This park site is about Mary McLeod Bethune, who
was a prominent African-American woman.  She was
an adviser to four Presidents and a strong advocate
of equal opportunities for African-Americans.  The
site consists of her home, which was also
headquarters for the National Council of Negro
Women, which she established in 1935.
