Joshua Tree National Park (California)

The Mohave Desert and the Sonoran Desert come
together in this park, where stands of Joshua Trees
grow.  Also present are other desert plants such as
creosote bush, ocotillo cactus, and cholla cactus.
The upstretched arms of the Joshua Tree caused
Mormon pioneers to name it after the Biblical
prophet -- it was like Joshua leading them to the
promised land.
