Jefferson National Expansion Memorial
(Missouri)

There are three parts to this park site.  The first is
the famous St. Louis Arch built on the waterfront
which towers in the air and you can see for miles.
You can actually go up inside the Arch in small cable
cars.  From the top you see a lot of St. Louis and of
Illinois across the Mississippi River.  The second part
is the Museum of Westward Expansion which is
located underground, under the Arch.  It has an
excellent display on the Lewis & Clark Expedition
and the settlement of the west by pioneers.  The
third part of the park site is the Old St. Louis
Courthouse.  Some famous cases were heard there,
including the trial in the Dred Scott Case, where the
U.S. Supreme Court ruled that he had to remain a
slave.

My brother and I were
at this park site in two
different years.  One
year they gave us a
large badge and the
other year a smaller
badge.  Once you are
awarded a badge, you
can pay for a patch.
