Golden Spike National Historic Site (Utah)

It was on this park site, on May 10, 1869, that the
construction of the first transcontinental railroad was
completed.  A golden spike was banged in to
celebrate the event.  The two railroads who built the
rail lines were the Central Pacific and the Union
Pacific.
