Fort Stanwix National Historic Site (New York)

This park site stands on the location of the original
Fort Stanwix which played an important role in the
Revolutionary War.  In the summer of 1777, the
patriot army stationed here, in upstate New York,
was able to withstand a siege of the fort by the
British.  By doing this it enabled the Americans to
defeat the British a short while later at Saratoga.
The National Park Service recreated the fort.

This park encourages
children to earn a Junior
Ranger badge by mail.
On their Website they
have two Junior Ranger
programs.  One
program involves
downloading their Junior
Ranger booklet, printing
it out, completing it by
looking for answers on
the
parks's Website,
and mailing it back to
them.  The second
program requires that
you look at various
pages on the Junior
Ranger page of their
Website, answering the
questions, and mailing
them back a note that
you completed it.  In
other words, for the
second program you do
not have to print out all
the pages of a booklet.
below of the cover of
the Junior Ranger
booklet, in order to
obtain the badge by mail
the
first way.  Then
print it out and follow the
booklet's instructions.
Mail it back to Fort
Stanwix National Historic
Site and they will send
you the badge.
You'll need an Adobe
reader on your computer in
order to be able to
download the
above Junior
Ranger booklet.  If you
don't already have an
Adobe reader on your
computer, click this picture:
below of the park's
Junior Ranger Internet
instruction page, in
order to obtain the
badge by mail the
second way.  Follow
the instructions.  You
can -- but you do not
have to -- print out the
various pages of the
Junior Ranger Internet
program.  Follow the
instructions on the last
page as to how to mail
a note to Fort Stanwix
National Historic Site to
tell them you completed
the Junior Ranger
Internet program, and
they will send you the
badge.
