Fort Laramie National Historic Site (Wyoming)

This park site tells a story of expansion into the
western United States.  It started out as a fur trading
center.  It operated as a stopping off point for
settlers heading out west.  The U.S. Army used it as
a staging place to confront Indians.  It was even a
Pony Express station.
