Alaska Public Lands Information Center (Alaska)
This office provides information on parks and other
public lands in Alaska. Although it is run by the
National Park Service, various other government
agencies take part in it.
On my 2007 trip to Alaska, I stopped by the office.
It is in downtown Anchorage. They had lots of
information on Alaska's park sites, including
informative displays. They also show movies.

Some of the national
parks in Alaska are
extremely difficult to
reach. To get to
some parks you
would have to fly in
on a chartered plane
or hike in off a
highway. Few
children go to
the remote parks and
therefore they do not
have their own Junior
Ranger programs.
(Once in Alaska, one
can reach relatively
easily Denali National
Park & Preserve,
Wrangell-St. Elias
National Park &
Preserve, Kenai
Fjords National Park,
Glacier Bay National
Park & Preserve, and
Klondike Gold Rush
National Historical
Park, which do have
their own Junior
Ranger programs.
Bering Land Bridge
National Preserve is
hard to reach but its
Junior Ranger
program can be done
by mail.) If you
wanted to do a Junior
Ranger program
covering Alaskan park
sites of the National
Park Service, including
those difficult to
reach, you would
want to do the one
offered by the Alaska
Public Lands
Information Center,
which does permit
children to do it by
mail. The badge
offered by the Alaska
Public Lands
Information Center
says "Alaska
Greatland" on it and I
was told it specifically
covered four Alaska
park sites: Kobuk
Valley National Park,
Cape Krusenstern
National Monument,
Noatuk National
Preserve, and Bering
Land Bridge National
Preserve.
